Eric Kell

Hey everyone I am Eric Kell. Here at Grand Heights I am the Varsity coach for the football team. I have had to deal with many negative things going on with team this year. I am outraged at the things that have been going on in our school this past year. Young teens posting pictures of naked girls on My space and my student athletes being caught drinking. its terrible, at the beginning of the season every student must sign a waver stating that they will stay "clean" throughout the season, To find out that my best player is one of them out there partying it makes me sad. To know that they have no respect for themselves or their teammates, let alone me for putting my trust in them. I want the students to be safe and if that means interfering with there extracurricular activities then so be it. This is the prime stage in these kids life when there brain is developing the most they don't need to be drinking partying and posting it online. It is there own fault for doing it they should be punished but after the punishment they should be helped kids experiencing with drinking and smoking can always lead to much worse things. I will always be here for my student like a father they need to be safe and have a safe fun environment to grow up in. I have lost my trust in my players they need be set on the right track and I know there is many people out there that are willing to help them myself included. Just because you don't get caught while your playing or on the team down the road it can hurt your chances with getting a job along with many other things. Our students are very embarrassed at what happened to them and their co-students but with help things will soon be back to normal. With the privacy issue I feel that if you don't want to get caught just don't experience with it and you will be fine our staff here only care about the kids and there well being that's why this was done for there own good.

KEllster,

Football! Let me tell ya what a great game your team played on Friday. It was a bummer to see you guys come up short in the end though. It reminded me of my glory days at the school. But in my glory days we never lost to the crosstown rival. If you want me to come and speak to the boys on how to play with some town pride I would be very happy to do that. Just hit me up on the telephone and I will do that.
I agree that student athletes are under more pressure then the other students but that is their own choice when they sign that waiver saying they will stay chemical free. Being an Athlete alcohol just slows you done and makes you out of shape. A dedicated Athlete would never use during the season. They know that they are not allowed to do anything illegal, and then they do it and let the pictures get posted online, that is just stupid. you must teach your boys a lesson so it does not happen again.

Hey there coach Kell. I agree that the stuff going on around school has been quite devastating, and probably very terrible for all of your players and you. I find it outrageous though that the school has the authority to go on a student athlets web page and use that as punishment. I mean come on, let these kids realx a little bit. I think it isn't smart for the kids to be drinking in the first place, but you know it will happen, so when they are caught it should be by the police. Anyways the school needs to lighten up a little and just realize what happens in high school. Good luck with your team, and I heard some stuff about Brad, talk to Patrick about it ;).

Mr. Kell,

I agree with you completely when it comes to the school getting involved in students extracurricular activities when it puts the reputation of the school in jeopardy. I would hope that all student athletes are respectable, mature young men but as we have seen thats not always the case. You would think that if football was important to them that they would refrain from making these choices and if they cant, then they could at least try to wait until after football season.

Coach Kell-
You know I am completely behind you on this issue. I can't believe what happened to our team and what was going on behind my back. I thought we were a family. I think because I am sober and also the captain, many people hide things from me. My wish is for our team to be completely sober, at least just for the season. these dangerous behaviors affect our team on the field, and how are we ever going to make it to state if we aren't playing our game at full potential? Also, it is not fair watching potheads on the starting line up and sober guys who work extremely hard barely play in the game. I also agree with you that it is legitimate for them to get caught online. If they post pictures on the internet, for all the world to see, how do they expect to keep these things private? See you in the locker room.

Coach Kell, whats up. I like your views about what teens should and shouldn't be doing. Most of them are stupid about what they post online, they are just opening up the door for being punished, but the school should not be intruding into their lives, and also digging up things that happened last year, with former students. They should really just let things die out, especially when they do not involve our current student body.

Eric, how's the football season going? Good thing you have a hood school nurse, those boys have been coming into my office every other day looking very sick. But anyway, about the pictures on the internet. I think that the boys are very hard workers and should not be punished for pictures that people have taken of them during their private lives. You have to remember that these are teenagers, and that a lot of them drink. Sure, they shouldn't be drinking all the time, but if they choose to every once in a while, they should be allowed the pleasure without being bothered by administration from pictures that they saw. But, have a good rest of the season. Goodluck!

Coach Kell,

Its hard to hear that you have lost the trust of your players. Trust is one of the most important aspects of any relationship, especially when it comes to team sports. I believe by keeping your strong position on this subject and punishing the ones who broke their contracts will help regain that trust. It may not be fun but you have to be strick with kids these days, it's the only way they'll ever learn. Well, good luck on Friday, I'll be there like always.

Eric, I agree that the kids should be punished for the online scandal. Illegal activity is illegal actitivy and that is the bottom line. It really is a shame that some of your athletes are in trouble but really it was not a smart move. I believe this will be a big eye opener for the kids and to know that you can't fool around with drugs and alchohal and then be that niave to post it for the world to see.

Coach Kell,

How's it going? We need to figure out our new lineup for next weeks game. I'm glad that you are letting our students know that your their for them. I guess I'm just not as satisfied knowing that I'm part of the reason our athletes are getting banned from playing. I mean I just can't support being a part of our players being suspended. I don't know, this is just such a rough situation. Coaches meeting soon? Just let me know.

Coach,
I know I said that it is not the administration's job to be looking through Facebook to find pictres of kids drinking. That does not mean that I have any of those pictures on my Facebook. There is no way that I could because I have never done anything like that. I still have to agree with the other kids my age and say that the administration should not be looking at our Facebooks and Myspaces. If it is not done at school, it is not the school business to deal with.

Eric,
More intense yes but a completely different ballpark no. Cd taking I agree doesn't come close to naked pictures of students on the internet but it still deals with privacy. Don't bring my daughter in to this what did she ever do to you... Ok so I don't have a daughter but all I can do is hope that when I do have kids I raise them so they stay away from all of this bad stuff. Hopefully they can find something else to get into like their father found music. Were the students clueless of what they were doing? Cause don't they have to drink/post pictures voluntarily. If they don't know what is happening with pictures of themselves then is it really their fault for the pictures.
